Previous charities

Caedmon Choir nominate a local charity at the start of each year and use performances and fund raising ideas as well as donations from choir members to help raise money for the particular charity. Between late 2019 and mid 2022, we jointly supported the West End Refugee Service and the Gateshead based charity, Peace of Mind. During this time, while the we were in Covid lockdown and the choir was meeting on Zoom, we recorded several Zoom videos to raise money for our charities- one of which can be seen via this link- https://fb.watch/gG4mOcGvM_/.

In 2018/19, our nominated charity was FACT- Fighting All Cancers Together- a Gateshead based charity that we have supported both by raising money as well as performing for them at various fundraising events.

In previous years, we have supported Smile for Life, The Peoples Kitchen, Tynedale Hospice at Home and Leroy’s Fund, where we helped raise money to buy a specially adapted wheelchair for a local music loving young man, to aid his mobility. Charities are suggested by choir members and we always try to support local charities, which may not get as much attention as some of the larger, national charities.

We are also happy to take part in one off fundraising events when we can, for example we were recently involved in a “mini festival” to raise funds for Willowburn Hospice and The Samaritans.
