Choir History

The Caedmon Choir is a community choir which was formed in 1987. We take our name from the Caedmon Hall in Gateshead Central Library, Tyne & Wear, where we rehearsed until 2005, when we moved into The Sage Gateshead. We now rehearse in St. Joseph’s Hall in central Gateshead. As part of our 20th birthday celebrations in 2007 we produced a booklet telling the story of the choir’s first twenty years. You can download this from the link below.

Eleanor Mooney joined us as musical director in 2007, succeeding Sharon Durant who had been our leader since 2001. Eleanor continues to lead the choir today and brings a wide range of songs to the choir repertoire, which we sing our many public performances each year.
